Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Master Lock Cam Buckle Straps. These tie-down straps let you secure cargo in your truck bed or trailer. These are great for cargo carrier and roof rack gear also. It's going to feature the built in strap trap bungee cords with toggles that cinch around excess strap so you hold it in place. It's going to help prevent unused strap from tangling or flapping in the wind. It also keeps the straps neatly stored when they're not in use so that's a really neat design. That's an elastic design so you can pull that slack out, push the toggle down, and that's going to hold the excess strap.
To remove the excess strap or to disengage the bungee just pull that toggle all the way up and then you can pull the strap out as necessary. Really nice easy to use design. Now two straps are included, I pulled one out of the packaging so we can get a good look and feel for how it's going to work and some of the different features that it offers. The unit's going to feature the cam lock buckles that hold the straps tight over your gear. Now I do want to be clear that this is not ratchet strap. You would simply pull the strap tight over your load and let the cam lock buckles do the job at holding the strap securely in place.
It's got serrated teeth in there, they grab onto the strap. It does allow the strap to be tightened but it does not allow the strap to be loosened. To loosen the strap you have to push down on that coated handle and then you can loosen the strap as necessary. I also want to point out that the S-hooks are going to feature these spring clips. That's going to keep the hook secure to the tie-down points. Now these are steel hooks that are coated with a protective coating to keep the hooks from doing any type of damage to anything.
It's not going to scratch anything and it's also going to offer rust and corrosion protection to the steel hooks themselves. The webbing on the unit when it comes to the strap, it's going to feature this strong durable monster weave strap webbing. It's going to have a razor coat which is going to improve abrasion resistance. These are very strong and durable. The straps are going to measure about one inch wide by six feet long. They have a safe working load limit of 400 pounds.
Maximum load or break strength is 1200 pounds and you're going to get two straps with this part number. Now when you're ready to fully disengage, push down there and then you can actually remove the strap from the cam buckle if needed. It offers really nice easy operation. Again these are not ratchet straps these are cam buckle straps. Always keep in mind that tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit. The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used. That's going to do it for today's look at the Master Lock Cam Buckle Straps.

Durable tie-downs have Strap Trap bungee cords that keep unused strap in place so it doesn't tangle or flap in the wind. Spring clips on S-hooks offer secure attachment, and sturdy straps have an abrasion-resistant coating. 1,200 lbs Max load.I wish these were longer. They came up short for my intended purpose, The webbing is slick and I'm not confident the excess strap will hold. I really wanted the spring closed clips, but again with the short straps they didn't serve my purpose. I imagine the clips could secure one end without it coming loose while working the other end. For me, I have better straps. The extra features couldn't serve my purpose.
I just ordered and received Master Lock Tie downs in two widths. They have the spring clip hooks. I needed this type tie downs to securely manage my kayak on top of my Jeep. I did not have the spring clip hooks type tie downs on a trip recently and when pulling out of a parking lot I hit a pot hole and the kayak fell off the rear of my Jeep! This spring clip tie down would have prevented that disaster from occurring. These are also a must for motorcycle and dirt bike tie downs. Motorcycle suspensions move so much that tie downs can come lose and the bike can fall over. If your bike is in an enclosed trailer, you won't know the bike has fallen down until you stop for fuel or make a stop and check your load.
These tie-down straps work excellent holding my kayak racks tightly to my utility trailer. Easy on and off with no rust yet.
Use them to secure items from sliding around in my trunk as well as restrain cargo on a trailer basket. No complaints, still work great as day 1.
I haven't used them yet, but they look perfect and the spring loaded clips will keep the straps attached this time. Our two new electric bikes came loose and almost hit the highway because the other strap hooks came unhooked.
These type of tie-downs have their place, but have limited ability to really bear down on a load. This particular product seems well made of good quality material.
Excellent product.
Small point...the red retaining bungee broke the 2nd time it was used.

They are shorter than what I needed. The locks slip and the strap holders don’t hold either. I can do better with ordinary straps. Great idea with poor execution.
